SERVICES
Does your log home look drab and old, like this one?
We can fix that!
For us, it's all about proper process, products and people.
STEP ONE:
REMOVAL
Using corn cob media blasting or an environmentally friendly stripping agent, we start the process by removing all of your old, worn-out finish, leaving a fresh log surface to work with. This is how it's done the right way.
STEP TWO:
SANDING
Weilding Festool sanders and extractors, our team sands down the entire log surface area, removing any felting, burrs or pulp, leaving furniture-quality logs and log ends.
STEP THREE:
CLEANING
Wanting the brightest log surface possible to begin the staining process, our team applies cleaners and brighteners to all remaining surface areas that are still holding on to the past. We hand scrub these areas clean, rinse and let dry. Clean wood is essential for effective application of stain, and for proper adhesion.
STEP FOUR:
FIX & FILL
In this final prep phase, we take each wall, perform a thermal image scan, and fill any gaps we find with industrial foam. Any wood rot issues are then addressed and fixed. Finally, Tim-bor borate treatment is applied to the logs to protect against termites, ants, beetles and wood decay.
STEP FIVE:
REFUSAL COATING
What is "point of refusal" coating? That's when your log surfaces have a coat of Sashco Capture sprayed so heavily onto the log and into its gaps, cracks and crevices that the log can hold no more and begins to "refuse" any product. Our team then back brushes this in by hand. This goes beyond what many call a "flood coat," as it takes time and dedication to the art, but that's the only way to properly preserve and protect your log home.
STEP SIX:
FINISH COAT & CLEAR
In the final phase, our team utilizes a quantity and quality approach to each log, applying your finish coat with precision to ensure an even finish from log to log. We then apply Sashco Cascade UV clear coat to give your logs protection from the sun and elements, and to enhance the natural beauty with a semi-gloss finish.
